Mobile Phones – The Alpha Male of Technology

The developments in mobile phone (cell) technology, just over the last 10 years have been staggering. When mobile phones first hit the market they required a trolley to carry around only had buttons 1-9. Nowadays however everything is touch screen and interactive. You can receive email on your phone, take high-resolution pictures and even play online games against someone the other side of the world. The advancement of the mobile phone shows no signs of slowing down either, and those in the know have suggested that before long, there wont be any room in the market for stand-alone gadgets.

Richard Kane, technology researcher at the University of Bath recently gave his opinion on how mobile phones will advance. “ I predict that very soon all the requirements of the modern way of life will be served by phones…technology is getting smaller thanks to things like mini electrical components and people are becoming ever more mobile, so it make sense that people want to carry their life in their pocket”.

MP3 players used to be things you had in addition to your phone, but as there is plenty of storage room in your cell these days, more and more people are using them for their music devices. The cameras in phones now are catching up normal digital cameras, and can offer mega pixel specs of up to 10.0, have a whole host of different shooting functions and again, can easily store whole photo albums. Internet browsing has been made very easy on the latest phones, and many websites have started creating ‘phone-friendly’ versions of their sites in response to the growth in phone browsing.

Lots of technology enthusiasts have stated that whitest phones have come on a long way, they cannot compete with large TVs or computer screen displays. Nokia have silenced these critics to some extent recently when they bought out a phone that could project a screen size of up to 45 inches onto the nearest wall. It seems like it’s out with home entertainment units and cable ties, and in with nana processers and micro circuit breakers, powering some of the most power bits of kit the world has ever seen.
